In one-to-one lessons, called Function Integration® lessons, the practitioner moves the student within his or her comfort range, reminding the student’s nervous system of fundamental movement patterns that can be accessed for greater comfort and skill in action. The force of longstanding habits may be reduced as new options become real choices. Feldenkrais practitioners address the whole person and seek to understand global movement patterns that may be responsible for individual symptoms. In these lessons of 45 minutes to one hour, the student wears comfortable clothing. An initial lesson may take up to an hour and a half, allowing time for an introductory interview.
During this extended period of physical distancing, I am giving one-on-one lessons over Zoom. After an extended conversation with a new client, I lead them verbally through movements tailored to their particular situation, resulting in benefits wonderfully close to those possible with direct touch.
